Creative Rome · Guide 07
An unusual thing to do in Rome: try the Patch Bar.
Try a creative experience in Rome: choose an accessory and arrange patches at TAGS, between the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Here is how to plan your visit.

By TAGS Design Studio ·
After looking at frescoes, façades and fountains, you might feel like making something with your hands. At the TAGS Design Studio Patch Bar, at Via della Dogana Vecchia 9, you compose an accessory: choose a base and build a design with letters, symbols and patches. It is a stop you can add to a walk through the historic centre, even if you arrive without a design in mind.
The TAGS guide
An idea, a few experiments, something yours.
Start with something you would use
Before choosing colours, think about what you would like to take home: a tote for everyday use, a pouch for small essentials or a cap. Look at the bases available in the studio and imagine using your piece. Starting with a real habit can make the decision easier than trying to find the perfect design straight away.
Choose a small story
An initial, a colour from your walk or a symbol that makes you smile is a good starting point. Place patches on the base, leave some space and try moving them around. Ask the team for help with proportions and composition if you like. You do not need to know how to sew or draw.
Make it a shared experience
As a couple or with friends, choose a colour in common and make different accessories. With children, start with a few options and let them choose the subject. Younger children should be accompanied by an adult. If you are visiting as a group, contact the studio beforehand so you can plan the visit together.
Leave the final application to the team
While your patches are resting on the base, the composition can still change. Once you are happy, check the design with the team before application: they will take care of securing the patches. You make the creative choices, with help for the finishing stage. The result is a personalised accessory to take home, along with the memory of making it.
Fit the stop into your day
There is no fixed visit length. If you have a timed entry to a monument, keep it in mind and tell the team when you arrive. Find the address, opening hours and accessibility information on Visit us. You can also explore the online customiser for ideas before stepping inside.
